Torrey Snow and Yuripzy Morgan unpack Maryland’s paid family leave program — the one passed in 2022, delayed for years, and now set to take money from your paycheck starting January 2027. Employers and workers both pay in. Benefits cap at $1,000 a week. They argue Governor Wes Moore did not want this on the ballot while he was running.
Then they go after the economy Trump promised to fix: Maryland layoffs (including defense and tech), $4 gas, sticky inflation, and a Fed that is still talking rate hikes two months before the midterms.
Also in this episode:
• Trump’s fight with mail-in ballots, the new USPS rules, and what the Supreme Court actually did• Wes Moore’s late gerrymandering push, the special session, and why two Maryland judges blocked the ballot question• WBAL News Radio layoffs — the station where both hosts started

Torrey Snow and Yuripzy Morgan open this episode of Free Range Politics with a raw, personal conversation about the Lindsay Clancy trial. Yuripzy shares her own postpartum struggles while the hosts dig into why so many women are publicly supporting Clancy, the role of postpartum psychosis, the intense online backlash against her husband Patrick Clancy, and what men actually need to hear when a partner asks for help.
They then turn to Maryland politics, calling out Governor Wes Moore’s frequent absences from the state (roughly 1 in 5 days) amid a budget crisis, missing bridge, and clear national ambitions. The episode closes with a sharp debate on Flock cameras—privacy, the Fourth Amendment, and whether mass license-plate surveillance is a necessary safety tool or a dangerous step toward a surveillance state.
Honest talk, no easy answers.
